GTR AWD

The GTR AWD system was built for racing. It was the same as Mazdas GTX drivetrain save for the fact that from the factorie the first two gears were cryo treated for strength. I figured if i'm going AWD I should get the best mazda had to offer.
Aquiring a GTR Drivetrain
It took several months to locate but with the help of one of the guys from www.clubprotege.com I located a GTR transmission and full rear subframe in Toronto Canada I drove up and brought it to its new home.

 Update 10-28-06:

The rear frame rails are done!!! I am trying to locate a foam filler for the rails to stiffen the chasis. As of now the AWD portion of the car is done.

Update 9-07-06:

The rear custom frame rails are almost done, they should be finished and rear subframe re-atached 9-10-06

Zoom Bloody Zoom!
After a lot of work the AWD Rear subframe has finally been fit up to the car!

S.O.S. pads rock... spent a few hours cleaning the trans with those and a hose. I still have a few hours or work left on it but it already looks almost new

All front subframe/suspension parts were sandblasted and painted with POR-15 and knuckles were bored out to be the same size as the 93 and up mx-3 knuckles

Isn't it beautiful a GTR AWD rear subframe on the MX-3

Jason welding the studs to the car for strength

Reinforcing the top of the bolts that hold in the rear subframe

Custom Frame rails for the AWD rear subframe and removed the well for the spare tire
