Progress
Keep checking for news I am nearing completion on the engine and will be posting more soon.

Update 10-28-09

I installed the top half of the intake manifold complete with the IAC bypass plates. I also have the Throttle body and TPS installed. I have done a test placement of the remote oil filter location and i'm waiting on feedback for where i put it. I also tested a coolant hose on the passenger side and didn't wor. I am trying a 2004 WRX lower hose i think hopefully this week to see if that will work. I also started work on installing the radiator.

Update 4-22-09

I now have the fuel rail and injectors installed, the engine and trans is all in the engine bay and the custom wireharness is in the process of being installed. Over the next few weeks I have the various nuts and bolts and sensors that are missing on the way and as I have time over the next couple of weeks the engine will be finished and wiring will be finished.

Update 6-02-08

I picked up the AEM EMS to run the engine and sold the Greddy EMU! I will not be going full standalone. I also picked up a carputer with 7" LCD touch screen. The only thing left for the engine itself is to install the top half of the intake manifold, the exhuast header, the fuel rail and injectors, a miata tps, and run the fuel / coolant lines and wires.

Update 5-28-07

The Engine is basically done now. We have the adjustable cam gears installed, all internals are done and the correct oil pump is installed. We did have one bolt brake in the block and that is going to have to be fixed at another shop. I'm also waiting on the bolt for the idler arm pulley i've ordered it three times now and all three times got a different bolt none of which are correct!

Update 3-15-07

The Engine is getting much closer. We have the exhintake cam done, a shop made the modifications to the exhaust cam and Tuntland's shop helped with the install. We ran into a problem with the oil pump, I was sent the wrong one so we are currently working with the company to trade mine for the correct one, Just waiting on the GTR water pump and gasket, and adjustable cam gears to finish it all off.

Update 1-05-07

The Engine is nearly together only waiting on the Exhaust cam for the Exintake Mod and the adjustable cam gears. I just picked up an aluminum radiator that I will be fiting and an AEM Eugo Wideband O2 Sensor and controller.

Update 12-09-06

Painted the cylinder head and oil pan. Installed the ARP head studs and the cylinder head.  Picked up the 1994 Miata ECU now working out how to mate the Protege wire harness to it and then it to the engine.

 Update 11-27-06

Picked up cylinder head this weekend from the shop, they finished my port and polish, glass beaded it, did the 3-angle valve job, and installed the stainless steel oversized valves. It looks amazing

Update 10-16-06

Took Cylinderhead in to put the last touches to my port & polish work, have it glass beaded, 3-angle valve job, install the SS oversized valves, will be picking up upon return from Fargo

Friday my Greddy Emanage Ultimate arrived and looks amazing!

Update 9-01-06:

The stainless steel valves came in! Got a great deal on them from corksport, and I must say they look amazing!  I will post pics as soon as I get a chance to get some photos. I have to save up a little to get the head work done then i'll be sending the head in to have them installed..

The engine bay looks tons cleaner after my girlfriend cleaned it for us (yes I know i have an awesome girlfriend)

You can also glimpse my red sway bar and custom manual steering rack in the picture.
